ARTIST STATEMENT
I approach my work in conversation with what emerges in the process of making. My subconscious mind and internal thoughts guide my painting in an intuitive process. The methodical act of making work often provides space to address my anxieties, existentialism, and perception of my surroundings through my own consciousness. Nature and the female form appear with regularity, but by placing them in imaginative worlds they take on strange new narratives. The result of these works prioritizes representational accuracy, attention to lighting, details, and anatomy as a means to convince the viewer of the physicality of these worlds and transport them.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am from Grand Rapids, Michigan where I grew up immersed in the surrounding nature. I’m currently a senior at North Park University, majoring in Fine Arts and minoring in Biology. I am considering medical illustration, prosthetic design and product design for my future steps after university. In the past few years, I’ve been honored to participate in and receive awards for the 2025 Student Research Symposium and the 2025 and 2023 Provost Prize Scholarship Exhibitions.
