ARTIST STATEMENT
In my sculpture practice, I explore an accounting of time and memory, using the labor-intensive, meditative processes of building up and carving away layers of wax and paper. Through progressively adding layers of natural materials and found objects, I address physical growth; reductive processes and surface alteration evokes the emotional journey that shapes the mind and soul. Ideas within my work often teeter between personal narratives and the experiences of autonomy and identity in contemporary American society.
