ARTIST STATEMENT
I was born into a family of artists and began painting when I was eleven.
I never stopped.
I paint nature, architecture, nudes, and portraits; work in bold colors and use line generously to emphasize my feelings for the subject. I love paths that lead to nowhere or the sensation of a place, absorbing the past or present. I paint people with respect and love of who they are. My nude series are unabashedly about beauty of the female form.
If people receive pleasure from viewing my work or it sends them someplace special in their memories or imagination then I feel I have succeeded.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Los Angeles LA, into an artistic environment, received my first painting lessons from my mother, a fine artist.
Education: Drawing and painting with Don Lewellyn and John Torreanno at SUNY College, Purchase, NY. While living in the former artists haven “Soho”, in New York City I studied painting with Bruce Dorfman at the Art Student’s League and individual painting instruction with Bruce Boice from School of Visual Arts in NYC.
I currently live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband, Lloyd Campbell, a photographer.
