ARTIST STATEMENT
Thinking with José Esteban Muñoz’s queer horizon, this painting imagines cutting a passage through inheritance, home, and looming fascism. Rooted in my family’s immigration story, it asks how we keep carving toward a beyond America has yet to fulfill.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
As a painter and educator, I build inclusive, critically engaged studio classrooms where students experiment boldly in painting and drawing within brave spaces. With 8+ years of college-level teaching as well as museum education and K–12 teaching experience, I design scaffolded, dialogue-based courses that integrate art history, theory, and lived experience.
My own practice models a rigorous, research-driven approach to figurative painting that invites students to see their studios as sites of inquiry, care, and social imagination.
