Cultivation of Curatorial Practices

A breakthrough survey by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in 2015 noted that, while there has been significant progress towards gender equality at art institutions, the United States still has a long way to go with regards to underrepresented/marginalized peoples in leadership positions. To begin addressing this pipeline issue, WMG is  developing an initiative geared towards diversifying the ranks of leadership at American arts institutions. Set to launch in 2017, the two year program (titled CURRENT) will be a mentor-matching residency for early career arts administrators/curators, that will provide opportunities for women of diverse backgrounds and underrepresented communities to be immersed in the conceptual, and practical processes of exhibition planning.
