ARTIST STATEMENT
As a senior artist it’s a special time for me to bloom in Art. I experiment in Abstract Art and collage as it allows the journey into the components of art such as color, composition, and dimension. I am also grateful for the rich fabric of experience and I often take inspiration from my South American heritage.
The small work “Full Moon, High Seas” is inspired by life on Long Island’s North Shore and the wild and energetic waters of New England. On the night of the full Moon the sea is especially beautiful.
As a habit I save small bits of paper cuttings and interesting household scraps to create mixed media, 3D collages. In addition, my latest technique incorporates acrylic paint palette dryings which I am able to pull off in bit & pieces….sometimes even sheets creating an amazing new medium for my collages.
