The experience of being outside the mainstream can be accompanied by feelings of specialness, envy, elation, rage, shame, pride, isolation and individuality.

When confronted with others who reflect the experience of our “own difference,” of not being normal, we sometimes minimize, shun or avoid them. We look through them as if they were not even present. My images express the feelings of being one who is not normal – the rage, the isolation and the freedom.
