ARTIST STATEMENT
I love spending time in nature, traveling and learning about other cultures. Always aware of color, pattern and texture, these life experiences are inspiration for my work. Most recently I have been working on my Strata Series. These pieces are inspired by the strata found in geological rock layers. I use my signature method of applying minute droplets of encaustic, one by one, to the surface of the painting, layered with texturized scratched areas to creating a tactile quality that when viewed in person, engages those who encountering it. Encaustic and texture are an obsession that I’ve committed myself to investigating, making it my realm and exploring what I can do with it.
