Description

ARTIST STATEMENT

I created this enormous peace sign within the negative spacing of a 9 ft x  9 ft cyclone fence, to visually signify how the limits of spacing can  lend itself to an inward sense of creative expression and a peaceable end to the war on humanity.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am a Puerto Rico based conceptual installation artist working primarily with textiles and fibers. I will be continuing my education this August at SAIC in the MD Fashion, Body and Garment program under the direction of Nick Cave. I recently participated in a residency in Florence, Italy at Palazzo Machiavelli where I filled four rooms with my concept of the matrix. Although most of my work to date has been using the method of crochet, I plan on expanding my art discipline to include other materials as well as methods as I continue in my journey.
