ARTIST STATEMENT
Although I enjoy looking inward, I also still enjoy looking outward and upward. In this case I was very glad to be able to walk and climb to this area. Walking in landscapes has always been a great joy. At 80, I celebrate still being able to do so, and to have the use of eyes and hands (though neither are what they were!) Griffith Park in LA was a new experience for me. It called for a new pallet and approach. I’m grateful for 20 plus years of making sculpture followed by an ongoing 20 plus years of painting. At this point in life, I don’t feel “invisible” at all.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cherry Rahn lives in Geneva NY and has been making sculpture and painting for over 40 years. Her sculpture is in Ithaca, NY, Seneca Falls, NY and at Harvard University. Painting subjects include landscapes, cafe scenes, “Tablescapes”, “Through Two Inches of Seneca Lake”, “Woods and Paths”, and “Old Stumps or Life Goes On”. She has also done set design for schools, college, community theater and a circus performance group.
