Childhood memories can be captured in many different ways, from many different perspectives. In my work, I use various forms of masking techniques that allow my photos to be viewed with other, deeper meanings.

By obscuring faces my portraits are more about the setting and less about the preservation of a particular childhood memory, causing a personal moment to become more public. Yet, because they are taken from a mother’s perspective, I hope they retain the spirit of childhood.
