I am a first-generation immigrant to this country from India. Even though I have lived here more than half my life, my heart and soul reside in my homeland deep in my subconscious mind. My works travel back to my roots involuntarily.

This piece is a reflection of that state of mind, creating a visual metaphor with nostalgic scenes of the urban architecture there or leaving behind my family or clinging onto the memories of my favorite traditional textiles. The textiles offer a platform for creating contemporary work based on traditional techniques—not a replication but instead a re-creation with a twist.
