ARTIST STATEMENT
Art is a tool that helps us make sense of our world. My creations are a direct reflection of the reality I live. A reality that is plagued with the longing and constant push for absolute liberation. Being that my art is reflective, it is a form of protest and prayer. Most of us are taught to look away—to distance ourselves from the daily slaughter, the casual erasure of lives deemed disposable, the slow violence of systemic oppression. We force ourselves into collective silence, hoping it will bring comfort, but are only left with more violence. My work negates the false comfortability. It uncomfortably confronts the broken promises of systems built for us and raises the question, whom are we truly protecting and serving?
