ARTIST STATEMENT
I don’t make art consistently. Trained as a sculptor but without a studio, I often turn to spontaneous scribbles and sketches that are impulsive, unplanned acts of expression. These sporadic works emerge from a subconscious stream of thought, placing me in a trance-like state where intention gives way to discovery. I am grateful for these moments of reflection.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Beate Minkovski is a visual artist who studied in Bremen, Germany from 1962 to 1965. She received her BA at Northeastern Illinois University in 1992. She co-founded Woman Made Gallery (WMG) in Chicago with Kelly Hensen, serving as its Executive Director from 1992 to 2014. Beate continues to volunteer for WMG and serves on its Board of Directors.
