I am an emerging artist from Knoxville, Tennessee, and a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. An intensive study abroad in Florence, Italy, informs my compositions as I reference the art historical canon of the Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo eras. My artworks are, however, an irreverent marriage between traditional forms of art making and chance-based compositions. Recently, I have used this dualism to express my interest in scientific botanical illustrations, translating the Victorian model of The Language of Flowers into a modern and more relevant vernacular, allowing for a reexamined conversation between the natural and social.
