ARTIST STATEMENT
One-of-its-kind statement necklace designed from repurposed and reworked materials. The Sky and Water necklace is created from a deconstructed silk necktie and embellished with hand-embroidered stones and beads sourced from disassembled vintage jewelry. The jeweled adornments on this piece include crystal and glass beads, jade, turquoise, silver-finish and acrylic beads.
Wear the necklace casually under a collared shirt or make it the pièce-de-résistance to your special occasion outfit. Collect compliments either way. It’s a delicate piece. Handle with care and wipe beads with a soft cloth if needed.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Anne-Marie Kovacs is a self-taught artist who is irresistibly drawn to multi-dimensional surfaces that offer color, texture and contrast. She found that embroidery and textiles offer her a beautiful way to explore and play with these properties.
