ARTIST STATEMENT
Abigail Svitko is a Chicago-area artist who graduated with a BFA from Indiana University Northwest. In her free-flowing, fantastical work, Svitko highlights lively female forms. Her work investigate themes of mythical storytelling, feminine emotions, and the challenges of womanhood and growing up. Taking inspiration from her own girlhood, she uses a vibrant palette to evoke playfulness, offering a childlike take on more grown-up topics. Svitko invites the viewer to look at the female form from a different perspective, allowing them to consider the unspoken realities that come from being female.

Her body of work investigates the idea of mythical storytelling through the exploration of vibrant colors and humorous figuration. Taking inspiration from her personal girlhood and fantasy she creates witty paintings with a colorful flare.
