ARTIST STATEMENT
I have selected for the Woman Made Gallery website a few of my favorite watercolors and ceramic works over the last 4 years. They express the core of who I am as an individual – someone who is deeply caring about the future of our environment and loves painting and sculpting nature; someone who feels that people should remain friends even though they may fundamentally disagree about numerous political issues; someone who feels it is important to sometimes make artwork expressing my political viewpoints, yet also do ‘art for art’s sake;’ someone who values my femininity and express it in art, and someone who has a sense of humor that won’t quit. Aesthetically I love meticulous craftsmanship and jewel-like color, whether I’m working in an abstract or a representational framework. I am also a work addict who loves to design and produce large multi- media commissioned works that are challenging, sometimes in collaboration with youths. I love the process of nurturing humanity in this way and also curating shows with other artists on timely topics and fearlessly pushing the boundaries of what it is possible for me to do.
