ARTIST STATEMENT

As a painter, my work is a journey into the abstract and the experimental. I do not start with a plan, instead I respond to what is on the canvas at any given time, allowing each piece to develop organically. My style is characterized by intricate patterns, dynamic brush strokes and distinctive marks that create a sense of rhythm and movement. I primarily work with acrylic paint, appreciating its versatility and quick drying time which allows me to layer colors and textures effectively.

Incorporating collage and mixed media into my pieces add depth and complexity. I print all my own papers and create my own stamps and stencils to enhance each piece. These elements often serve as focal points or subtle details that enhance and create a type of mysterious element which the viewer can personally interpret.
In life I strive to learn “anew” each day and try not to stereotype or judge or linger on past experiences. We will not be able to move into the “moment’ of each minute with preconceived thought and our history of prejudice.
