Versus/Verses

Poetry on the cases that shaped a nation

On September 20, Woman Made Gallery hosted Versus/Verses, a literary program curated by Jae Green that brought together six poets to explore the intersections of poetry, law, history, and social justice. Drawing inspiration from landmark legal cases and issues, including fugitive slave laws, freedom of religion, Brown v. Board of Education, Roe v. Wade, medically assisted suicide, and obscenity and art, the poets offered powerful reflections on how the law has shaped, and continues to shape, our lives.

Featured Poets: Le’Trice Buckingham, Katherine Chronis, Judith Cooper, Sheri Flanders, Shontay Luna, Cathleen Ann Schandelmeier.
