ARTIST STATEMENT
Anima Mundi is Latin for the “soul of the world.” Briefly, it is a concept that a spiritual force connects all things in the universe. My soul has been grieving for all the suffering in the world, caused by the meaningless wars, the destruction of our planet due to bombing and human caused global warming.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Marian has loved creating art since childhood. She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbia College, the University of New Mexico and with many generous teachers over the years. She enjoys discovering novel places and painting them “en plein air” in oils. Although primarily a landscape and portrait painter, Marian enjoys painting on a large scale and has painted several murals. She’s an award-winning artist and has participated in many juried exhibits. She is also a long-time member of the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, the Rio Grande Art Association, and the Rainbow Artists. Marian started the Art Heals Project in 2013. This outreach project provides art experiences for hospitalized children. Marian has visited over twenty thousand children with her art cart in their hospital rooms to offer art activities to help them cope with stressful experiences.
