ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores themes of transformation, identity, mythology, and the connection between the human spirit and the natural world. Through oil painting and symbolic imagery, I create dreamlike narratives that invite reflection on healing, resilience, and personal discovery.
After many years away from painting, I returned to my studio practice with a renewed commitment to creating from an authentic inner vision. My work draws inspiration from ancient stories, nature, and the unseen connections that shape our lives.
Through color, symbolism, and layered storytelling, I seek to create paintings that honor both the challenges and the beauty of the human journey.

Katherine M Kraus is a Virginia-based artist whose oil paintings explore transformation, mythology, nature and the unseen connections between human experience and the natural world. After years away from painting, she returned to her creative practice with renewed purpose, creating works that reflect healing, resilience, and personal discovery. Through symbolic imagery, Katherine’s paintings invite viewers into dreamlike landscapes where ancient stories and personal journeys meet.
