ARTIST STATEMENT
My artistic practice investigates the intersections of gender and transfeminine identity through a diverse media approach, employing gender tropes to interrogate and redefine transgender identity. By integrating feminist critique, transfeminine lived experiences, and contemporary art practices, I utilize methods such as digital and analog photography, repetition, readymades, and illustration to challenge binary gender constructs and underscore their fluidity. I critically examine and reconstruct the concept of identity through physical forms (e.g., genitalia, hormone replacement therapy, body dysmorphia) and focus on the phenomenological aspects of the trans experience.
The objective of my practice is to convey authentic experiences of transness, emphasizing self-definition and the interplay between physicality, identity, and social norms. I advocate for informed discourse regarding the understanding and portrayal of gender in popular culture.
