ARTIST STATEMENT
Flowers have been my primary subject matter since the COVID pandemic. In this crazy world, nature is the continuum and natural beauty trumps lies and mistruths. Flowers are deceptively simple at first glance, but like humans, there’s a lot more going on underneath. New to working with clay, I enjoy making those discoveries as I build flowers from the inside out.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I have been making art since I was a child, but for many years my making came second to my career in art book publishing and then caretaking. Now that I am widowed and no longer working, I have returned my attention to my first love. I love working in all mediums but hand building with clay has been my focus for the past year. My home on a wooded dune, one block from Lake Michigan, provides solace and inspiration.
