ARTIST STATEMENT
I have always found antique objects interesting, trying to imagine the “life” they have lived. My ceramic mixed media work takes the once precious, possibly forgotten photographs and gives them a new life and appreciation. In “Suther Land”, I used a photograph from the 1950’s to represent the relationship between myself and best friend. I have created a shrine to our friendship that has been immeasurably important in my life.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Amy Beattie is a multiple medium artist, mainly focusing on ceramics and mixed media works. She is a retired art teacher, now working from her home studio in Wisconsin and raising her family.
