ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is a direct reflection of the natural world and built environment demonstrating my love for the inspiration they provide to me as a painter and an artist. I visually respond to everyday observations with a twist. Capturing imagery through photography is my first step as I craft a painting that may bring in several elements and layers versus focusing on a single image. Pushing these contexts enables me to create new images as I re-imagine landscapes, figures and narratives along with skewing perspectives and manipulating the medium. Using saturated color also keeps my work alive to the mystical visions that eliminates redundancy. Using oil paint provides enough diversity for me a sole process. I also use watercolor and mixed media as well. I strive for the viewer to appreciate the context in which I create my work and hope my works inspires viewers as well.
