ARTIST STATEMENT
Fricassée nods to the Dada practice of readymades by combining a handheld kitchen mixer with feathers and taxidermized chicken feet. It takes its name from a recipe in the 16th century cookbook The Good Huswifes Jewell, a manual intended for a female audience. Combining a 1970’s appliance with desiccated poultry reveals the absurd notion that preserving outdated domestic labor roles is palatable.
