The story begins with a young woman who botched her birth control and became pregnant at a time she was acutely aware she was not okay. Her abortion took place a month before her 22nd birthday and it would be nine, hard years later when she would start therapy and begin the work towards inner peace. No matter how hard life got, she always gave thanks to her right to a safe and legal abortion.
I could tell you about her tears, her numbness, the confrontations, the bathtub, and the giant-pizza-cookie, however this is a story about the relief she felt knowing that, with about $450 dollars and the backing of her state and her country, she had the personal agency to choose her own path.
