In celebration of its 30th Anniversary, Woman Made Gallery is hosting the exhibition “Generations”, on view at its gallery location from June 11 to July 16, 2022.
Generations is an exhibition celebrating the past and envisioning the future of WMG and its values. Through this exhibition, WMG asked alumnae artists to reflect back upon the importance of feminist art space in their art practices, careers and relationships. Art in this exhibition speaks of motherhood and the right to choice, the nuances of intersectional thought and ways in which women hold hands to build each other up. A deep dive into the gallery’s past arrived up to moments of witness into activism, rebellion, the need for rest and the abundance of wealth when it comes to community and connections.
Forty-one alumni artists have come together in this exhibition to build a narrative of support, evolution, courage and solidarity.
Two of our WMG’s Programming Committee members, board member Jae Green and programming intern Marisa Miles curated the Generations exhibition.

About the Committee
Jae Green is a poet, second-generation artist, mother and cancer survivor originally from the South side of Chicago. Her poetry can be found in anthologies such as “Residual Believers”, “Smithsonian Magazine” and “Voices from the Heartland”. She has performed at The Green Mill, Randolph Street Gallery, The Chicago Cultural Center, Woman Made Gallery, The Chicago Poetry Fest, Metro, The Martin, Side Street Studios, and Catherine Edelman Gallery.
Marisa Miles is an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago studying Urban Studies and Museum Studies. Marisa has been interning with Woman Made Gallery since January 2021 and has supported new programs at the gallery including Instagram Lives artist interviews. With her deep knowledge of archives and Urban planning, Marisa has received numerous grants to further her work in Chicago History.
