“I create art to call attention to the often overlooked. Although everything I see…the shape of an object, a color, or a bit of texture…has artistic potential, my chief source of inspiration is the natural world. I am bombarded with ideas when I’m out in nature; it’s almost too much, so I need my camera at all times, and for my mixed media works, I have to note all my ideas down.

I usually have a clear idea of what a piece will look like before I begin. As the work evolves, it may influence me toward a slightly different direction, but the final result is close to or exactly what I had envisioned.

My creations are my daughters, each with her own personality…wild, whimsical, cunning, defiant, hopeful…but never, never indifferent.

In addition to working in visual art, I also write poetry, which has been published in more than 50 magazines and literary journals. I graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA in 1981.”
