Through my work, I explore the utterly weird reality of embodiment. I often find myself disoriented by the surreality of being body-bound. Our embodied nature forces us to contend with questions regarding reality and objectivity, especially as they relate to our sensory experiences, as well as the correlation between arousal and disgust. Untitled (Accretion #2) straddles the line between natural and surreal. The undulating form and squirmy appendages suggest something moving, breathing and creeping outward. At once pleasing and unsettling, it speaks to the corporeal coexistence of both pleasure and repulsion.
