This body of work deals with issues of what it means to be feminine and acceptance of one’s body. Humor is used as a tool to disarm the viewer and to contrast the seriousness of expected femaleness. The self portrait is used to display the complexity of an individual. The act of creating the self portrait is a ritual of self acceptance and displays a kind of self consciousness that is also self aware and playful.
