My emphasis has always been the human face and form. To me the face represents the honest essence of my subject – naked and vulnerable. In its ridges, clefts and grooves, I find a rich abstract landscape, which I put down as directly as I possibly can. The challenge of depicting humanity through the images I develop is the force behind my creativity.
