Loose Threads

As a maker of drawings, prints and textiles I work primarily in collage. Using no particular methodology, I sift thru materials and pick pieces to create a visual field that combines dissonance with color balance. Over the past few years, I have crafted quantities of unique knit fragments which feature prominently in the quilt shown here.

I have called the work “Loose Threads” to reflect the random nature of life. Even when we plot a life course, the unforeseen intervenes. We are left with unfinished projects and directional changes we seemingly cannot avoid. Weaving ends into new contexts is sometimes possible but not always. I find art a means for expressing metaphorically what words alone cannot, especially during tumultuous times.
