Documentation so often today means some sort of photograph – generally an image of ourselves. I quite often incorporate old photographs – either of family members or historical footage – into my work. I find it grounds a work + brings its reality home in a way that paint + marble + wood can not. The power of the photography of a person survives + retains its power long after the person has passed.
