Using the Fayoum portraits as inspiration, I have painted images of my family from my father’s side, which all reside in Egypt. This is a monotype, done on Printmaking paper, then reworked using the layers of encaustic to enhance the monotype mark. I relied on images from my memory, and old photographs to reproduce my modern day view of Arab nationality.
