The traditions of my Fathers are written by men, about men. I search for women in the text and find a few, mostly notable only for supporting some great man. “Behind every great man stands a great woman”, but I ache to step to the front. So with paint I rewrite the verses to find myself in them, to make myself prophetess, saint or archangel. And these will be the traditions of my daughters.
