My current use of the human face as a subject matter results from a deliberate attempt to make my art, and therefore my message, more accessible. When my subject is imaginary, I concern myself with perfecting emotive content. But when working from a real person, my goals are not simply representational; rather, I want the finished piece to depict specifically what I wish to reveal about that person. This can be accomplished in something as simple as the curve of a jaw line, something as symbolic as a halo and angel pin, or something as complicated as an expression of anger.
