In my work I confront issues that women face in their quest to fit into culturally defined images of “beauty.” When do these pressures women feel and the lengths they go to be “beautiful” ease? At what point can women relax and be comfortable with whom they are?

Even women who have reached their senior years still respond to these cues. The infirmities, the restrictions and the loneliness of old age do not limit what women gain from being “made up.” Their faces say it all. Age: 52
