Chance
wooden box, wax, gold leaf, words, wedding gown
3 x 4 x 11 in.

I often use myth, legend and parables from “cultures” past and present as a departure point for my artwork. For “Chance” my inspiration came when I connected the word chance, a phenomenon usually associated with game playing and risk taking, with the act of a wedding/marriage. Fortune, luck, jeopardy, and synchronicity are but a few of the fundamentals that reveal and conceal themselves in an emergent relationship.
