Male (Banyan Tree Series)
black and white Silver Gelatin toned
24 x 20 in.

At a time when I was feeling sadness for the fragility of life, I took a walk along a quiet wooded area, hoping to find solace and comfort. The Banyan Trees whispered to me. They spoke of sensuality and absolute beauty that balances the forbidding aspects of mortality.

I started to see body parts within the trees that were gender specific and gender blurred. I could envision male and female anatomy emerging from the living wood, embracing, with raw energy, all of the passion and promise of existence. These photographs document a moment of spiritual redemption and the rediscovery of hope.
