“Squaretangle” is informed by the color theory of Josef Albers who used squares within squares to demonstrate how the same color appears to change depending upon what color surrounds it.

“Squaretangle” focuses on color, composition, texture and form. I used color combinations that resonate with each other and added contrasting color that infuses an element of surprise and a note of whimsy. Underlying the oils, a layer of acrylic resin squares and lines gives added texture to the surface of the canvas.
