The Shed

I am primarily a ceramic artist who has built several large scale community and public pieces and most recently small ceramic forms that are both functional and sculptural that deal with political and social content.

But, I felt compelled to create a book that documented my experience and reflections working this past summer to design and build a backyard utility shed, which was constructed out of primarily recycled materials. Intertwined are thoughts on the meaning of labor as well as my family history. Text accompanies photographs I took at various stages of the shed’s development.
