Radical weather events have made us all that much more aware of the urgency for change in our lifestyles. So many more people are waking up after the global weather and nature-related catastrophes of the last few years. We will need to change our approach to living if we are going to leave something for future generations.

“Katrina Boy” is based on a personal experience which occurred right after Hurricane Katrina. I had spent and continue to spend time assisting a family that had taken in seven other displaced families. In a correspondence they recounted that they had been lucky in that one of the eight-year-old boys was able to obtain a pair of shoes—however they were not matched. Powerful, disturbing.
