| For me, painting is both an emotional and intellectual experience. Music is always central to my painting. It directs the brush stroke and creates the technique used in each piece. The overall process is quite spontaneous and organic; I never start a painting with any idea or notion of what will happen. Each time I paint, I have the sensation of an image, a story, a pattern or a color field revealing itself to me. I try to read each painting as it develops and try to understand what works with the evolving images. The refinement of each painting occurs through what is essentially a dialogue with the canvas regarding the authenticity of placement and movement and color for that particular piece. |
