| My paintings are studies in human nature. They speak of my fascination with it and with all of our tendencies, struggles and attempts at peace. I examine the potential we all have for sorrow, absurdity, fierceness and compassion. Birds appear often in my work. Their simple shape is familiar and offers guidance through the deep forest of emotion explored in my portraits. Winged or not, they become icons: reflections of human foibles, fears, joys, and an unnamable sense of hope. |
