After I received my Interior Design Degree I decided to design and weave large-scale wall hangings for banks, churches, office lobbies and wherever a wall hanging was needed in corporate places. They were always designed with the architecture in mind. I pursued that for a long time till these large-scaled wall hangings became too large to handle. Then I became involved in bead art, designing and weaving with beads. Instead of the thick yarns I am now using tiny beads. Texture is different; still I can use my love for design and color. Fiber art and bead art have very much in common. Compared to the large-scaled hangings, these pieces are very small in scale. Pendants and necklaces are my favorites, often using optical illusion designs. My favorite architect is Frank Lloyd Wright. I design and weave with these small beads adaptations of his windows. The artwork hangs between 2 pieces of glass and can be viewed from front and back. |
