My approach to this material reflects the dictionary definition of abstraction. It selects and draws out the essence, one of many possible essences, from my visual experience of the physical world. Working with what I see through a couple of inches of water at the lake’s edge, I find the raw material that invites multiple interpretations and that escapes from any sense of scale. Line, color and form redefine themselves and take on their own reality.
