The following article was written in 1994 by Chicago publicist Terry Jinks:

For Beate Minkovski, co-founder and executive director of Woman Made Gallery, satisfying the demands of being a wife and mother of five were the best preparation for the challenge of meeting the needs of her new family - her sisters in the arts. The gallery, which supports women in all the arts, was formed in May 1992 to provide space for her Senior Exhibition, a collaborative installation project titled "Man-made Women". It featured patriarchal images of women from the Virgin Mary to a sex blow-up doll, man-made in Hong-Kong.
A returning student at Northeastern University, Beate Minkovski received art talent scholarships for four years, earned the Lincoln Laureate Award in 1991, the Frank Fritzmann Memorial Award in 1992, served as secretary to the Art Club from 1988 to 1992 and graduated with a 3.98/4.00 GPA in 1992.
Her successful academic accomplishments followed twenty-three years of a life as a home maker, wife and mother of five children, squeezing in wage-paying jobs which included night-shift factory work, waitressing and sales positions. At the urgings of her children, the oldest then twenty-two and the youngest ten years old, she returned to finish her art education in 1988 which had begun from 1962 to 1965 in Bremen, Germany.
Still trying to satisfy the demands of having a family and doing her own art work, Beate gives unlimited time to the growing endeavor called Woman Made Gallery which has evolved into an ever hungry project with unlimited possibilities. Incorporated since July 1992 it has received its tax exempt status in 1993 and proves itself to be a very needed addition to the Chicago art world. The gallery hosts monthly art exhibitions with a variety of themes, poetry and performance events, educational programs for young girls and offers a variety of work shops. With the help of co-director, artist Janet Bloch, Woman Made Gallery is providing for the needs of the family of women a long overdue service.
